Scuba Diving at Wind and Wave Davao, Philippines

Mid-1993 saw the birth of City Shack Davao Dive Shop, a small operation that built its home in the heart of Davao City. That small operation soon turned into a full-fledged business as more and more enthusiasts sought the distinct pleasure of diving.

Riding the wave of success, City Shack relocated to a bigger and more accessible site at the city’s biggest wharf. It was during this time in 1998 that City Shack became Whitetip Divers Davao, servicing a large portion of the diving community in Davao City.

By year-end of 2002, Whitetip was ready for another change. This time, the change included the introduction of kayaking, windsurfing, and kite boarding to the water sports enthusiasts. It also continued its commitment to the community in supporting the programs of the government and non-government organizations in promoting awareness and conservation of marine and aquatic resources as well as providing training for water safety and rescue operations. To encompass the expansion of its services, Whitetip needed a new identity. Hence, Wind and Wave Davao emerged as the embodiment of all of these.

A place to have a great experience in Scuba Diving, Kayaking, Wind Surfing, Wake Boarding, Jet Ski Riding, Banana Boat Riding, Island Hopping, Sunset Cruise and some more. You can also rent and buy your diving gears at them. A place were I obtain my Scuba Diving Introduction. They simply are amazing!

Working Alone

How many times you found yourself forced to stay late in the office to meet that deadline? How many times after you arrived home and had your lunch, you tried to have a small nap, but couldn’t close your eyes, so you decided to hit the road back to the office, to finish that pending job, or that analysis report, or that design modification. How many times you left the office, very late, satisfied that you have managed to finished that work during the quite period of after-work hours. where there were no interruptions, or telephone calls (except those occasional ones from sites, as they work up to 5:00 to 6:00 pm). Do you know how often some of us have to be alone doing our job, either because we need that quietness, or because we need to meet that approaching deadline, or even because the nature of our work necessitates being alone, may be in a very isolated, or limited space area.

work

If any of the above scenarios applies to you then should not always ask yourself, “am I prepared to be alone?, am I fit to be alone?, In fact, if you live alone, or if you occasionally spend few days at home alone, while the family is visiting relatives abroad”.

There is nothing wrong or unsafe about occasional late work, or work in isolation; many of us enjoy being “ALONE” every while and the other. In fact, some would excel and would perform much more during the quite periods of after-working hours. This is normal, as long as some basic precautions are taken, and regularly checked.

-> Ensure that someone knows where you are. Agree with him/her to pass by, or least agree on having telephone calls on regular intervals. If you can be visible, e.g behind a glass wall agree that he/she looks up at you regularly.

-> If you have High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Heart function irregularities, ect., ensure that someone close to your whereabouts knows about your conditions, and knows some basic first aid tips relevant to your conditions.

-> It is advisable as well to agree with security personnel at the main entrance to check on you, call you, or you call them in regular intervals.

-> Ensure that any special medications, which you may need during emergencies, are available with you, in your workplace, and are accessible and visible to first aid personnel.

-> If you are angry, upset, sleepy, or exhausted, avoid being alone as these conditions may lead to unfavorable body reaction at some instances.

-> If security is an issue in your workplace, then ensure that security measures are properly taken and are managed in accordance with the policies and procedures.

-> Ensure that you know the emergency escape routes, the location of emergency equipment and first aid kit.

-> Ensure that you know all emergency numbers.

-> If you are going to do any manual handling or lifting, ensure that you understand and comply with the manual handling procedures. Improper handling of heavy box can lead to various injuries, some of which may even disable you from asking for help. Be wise.
